Women In Tech:
ANA ZERMENO

Hello! My name is Ana Zermeno I am a senior in hogh school which means soon I will have many important decisions to make 😬. Sadly I am not 100% sure what I want to do after high school which is why I was opened to being a part of this program. At Girl's who code I was able to take a look and learn about something that I never would have imagined enjoying as much as I did, although it was very challenging. The list things that I usually find myself doing consists of watching movies, eating food, and sadly stressing about my future. I also am the 4th of 5 children so My household is pretty busy which rarely leaves me time for extra activities. Thsi is precisely why this program was very important to me , and i am proud to say that I have learned a lot.

My Teammates

Duirng the course of this week I was able to work wiht many differnet girls who made me realize that I was not alone in the confusion of coding which gave me hope to keep going. Ech one of the girls I worked with showed me new skills I had never explored which did make the process of leaningsomething new much easier. Sometimes all the being thrown at you can become overwhelming, and that can cause you to feel like you are falling behind. Which is why asking for help is very important and not at all looked down on. Which is something I learned from me fellow girls who code. In the final project as a team I was able to really perfect my coding skills with the help of my teammates and together we were able to create a working page advocating somthing we all support; Gender Equality.

Hope for my Future

Now that I have taken this course I have learned a lot, not only about coding but about mmyself. I have found a new respect towards women who broke that gender barrier and followed the career path of computer science. I may not choose that same path but I can now say that I ahve tried it, and this experience has opened me up to try many new things. In the future I hope to find a career that challenges me but that I also enjoy, just as computer science has for many.

Advice for Young Women

My advice for young women is to not be closeminded about new experinces. That is the only way to know whether something is right for you or not.
